One of the highest national parks in the US, the Rocky Mountain National Park covers 265,807 acres of mountainous environment with an elevation ranging from 7,860 feet to 14,259 feet. The park has sixty mountain peaks abundant in wildlife, trees, and plants, including pristine alpine lakes.

During late summer, the park has fewer crowds, making your hiking experience more peaceful and less troublesome. One of the must-see attractions on the trails offered is the hike to Emerald Lake. It covers a 3.5-mile round-trip trail that takes hikers past three of the park’s stunning lakes and amazing wildlife.

South of Boulder is the historic town with the feel of the Old West, Durango. Although the town has its unique charms and plenty to offer tourists, the famous Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is their main attraction.
